100 Days to Electrify Europe

100 Days to Electrify Europe

In 100 days we can:

☀ Install solar farms that power 2 million homes.
🔽 Reduce emissions equal to Croatia’s yearly total with heat pumps.
⚡ Build wind farms that deliver Sweden’s yearly power demand.

In 100 days, we can make significant steps towards our net-zero future.

We’re excited that European Commission President von der Leyen’s Mission Letter to the new Energy Commissioner-Designate Dan Jørgensen, calls for an Electrification Action Plan!

Now, within its first 𝟭𝟬𝟬 days, the new European Commission must publish this plan.

The plan must:

1) Prioritise EU eletrification targets

We need to increase the rate of electrification by:

🎯 A minimum of 35% electrification by 2030.
🎯 50% electrification by 2040.
🎯 Up to 71% electrification by 2050.

2) Invest in grids and flexibility, with:

💵 Massive investments in electricity grids.
🔜 An immediate reform of the TEN-E Regulation and Ten-Year Network Development Plan processes for both #TSOs and #DSOs.
🤸 An increase in energy system flexibility by 133% in 2030, and by 250% from 2030-2050.

3) Empower citizens and businesses by:

⚡️ Electrifying buildings, industry & transport.
👷‍♀️ Addressing worker and skills shortages.
