The Electrification Staircase, introduced during our Watt’s Next event on 9 December and co-authored by Dr Silvia Madeddu (Schneider Electric), William Drake (Liebreich Associates), Thomas Butler (Regulatory Assistance Project), Adrian Hiel (Electrification Alliance) and Michael Liebreich (EcoPragma Capital and Liebreich Associates) is now available on the website of the Electrification Alliance.

This new framework provides a clear, structured way to understand step by step where electrification can deliver the highest impact today, and how Europe can prioritise solutions that replace fossil fuels and accelerate electrification effectively today. Derived from the Hydrogen Ladder, the Electrification Staircase is designed to support policymakers, regulators and industry in making informed choices on the sequencing of electrification.

As Europe faces pressing challenges on climate, energy security and affordability, the staircase aims to become a reference point for electrifying fast, efficiently and where it makes the most sense.
